Fan Fiction: The Number Revelation 2

It has been seven years now and I’m bringing this back out to discuss, nice or what? Once again, only listing fanfics that have been posted on the blog, NOT anything still in the background.

So, who’s the winner this time?

Wallace Huo – 19 (The Neurotic Collection, The Slanted Thoughts Collection, Stranded, The Business, The Dating Game Collection, and 4 one-shots) – The reigning champion. Because of The Dating Game, mostly, lol. I told you guys Wallace will leave the rest of the people in the dust with the next update. Proof, right? He would have left them in a wider gap if I hadn’t been so stuck on some of the stories.

The rest?

Cyndi Wang – 15 (Neurotic, Slanted Thoughts, The Dating Game 1-4 + 7-8, Scheming Nature, The Other Extreme, HIDE & SEEK, Slicing Boundary, and 3 one-shots) – She actually appeared some more in The Dating Game so that was why her number went up. It was only briefly and to resolve some past conflicts. Aside from that, I don’t have other new stories of hers in the background.

Joanne Tseng – 14 (The Dating Game Collection, Scheming Nature, The Other Extreme, Heaven’s Gift, True Friendship, and 2 one-shots)

Angela Chang – 13 (Neurotic: Tainted World, The Slanted Thoughts Collection, The Dating Game Collection, The Other Extreme, When Wishes Come True, and 1 one-shot)

Nicholas Teo – 13 (The Neurotic Collection, The Slanted Thoughts Collection, The Dating Game 3-8, Payback, Slicing Boundary, and 1 one-shot)

Jacky Chu – 13 (The Dating Game Collection, Scheming Nature, The Other Extreme, +Destiny+, True Friendship, and 1 one-shot)

Tony Sun – 12 (The Neurotic Collection, The Dating Game Collection, and 1 one-shot)

Johnny Yan – 10 (The Dating Game Collection, +Destiny+, and 1 one-shot)

Ehlo Huang – 9 (The Dating Game Collection, +Destiny+)

Bianca Bai – 9 (The Dating Game Collection and 1 one-shot)

Achel Chang – 8 (The Dating Game Collection)

Andy Chen Yi – 8 (The Dating Game Collection)

Yvonne Yao – 6 (The Slanted Thoughts Collection, The Dating Game 4-8)

Janine Chang – 6 (Honey In Tea, The Dating Game 5-8, Tri-Visual, and 1 one-shot)

Cynthia/Chloe Wang – 6 (The Dating Game 4-8, Payback, and Slicing Boundary)

Joyce Zhao – 6 (Neurotic: Relentless Cycle, Neurotic: Tainted World, The Dating Game 1-4 + 6, True Friendship)

Doris Lai Wei Ru – 6 (The Dating Game 1-4 +6, +Destiny+)

Vic Chou – 5 (Scheming Nature, HIDE & SEEK, Tri-Visual, and 2 one-shots)

Calvin Chen – 5 (Neurotic: Tainted World, The Other Extreme, Heaven’s Gift, and 2 one-shots)

Jiro Wang – 5 (Slanted Thoughts, The Other Extreme, Heaven’s Gift, Slicing Boundary, and 1 one-shot)

Wu Zun – 4 (The Other Extreme, Heaven’s Gift, and 2 one-shots)

Sophia Chou – 4 (The Dating Game 4-7 and The Other Extreme)

Tammy Chen – 4 (The Business, The Slanted Thoughts Collection, and 1 one-shot)

Amber Kuo – 2 (Slanted Thoughts 2 and 1 one-shot)

Xiu Jie Kai – 2 (Payback and Tri-Visual)

What now?

I was actually waiting for The Dating Game to be finished posting before I update on this one. However, I think that’s it for now. Yes, I will say that it’s a good stopping point. Because somehow, I’d gone off the rails with the plot in parts 9 and 10. In fact, I tried to fix it several times but it wasn’t happening. It got worse. At least, it became so serious that it became an 8 P.M. soaps plot that I didn’t want to post. I loved it in my twisted way, that I will admit. However, I don’t think it’s considered appropriate for the current context that I tried to build. Sure, there was intensity at times, but it always came back. It did come back this time, but it no longer felt the same. In fact, I had merged part 9 in with part 8 to complete in its current state. Yes, it’s finished. However, you could see halfway through it was already heading toward a very dark place. Even darker than before. So I will stop now regarding posting it on here. I will say that I’m still working on part 9 to see if I could tweak it back to its original course. Considering how I still enjoyed it and felt like I enjoyed it more than before, I won’t post it. Unless in the future I change my mind. As of now, that’s it.

What will happen now that The Dating Game is coming to an end? I’ll probably have more time to work on the others. However, I can’t say it’s going to be soon. 2020 has in its twisted way allowed me more time to work on finishing on some fanfics. But it still brought out a very dark side to stories. I think that was what happened to The Dating Game, even if I did enjoy working on it.

I wanted to save the update regarding The Dating Game with the usual fanfic updates posts, but I thought I say something here first. Since I would be caught up in some of the real-life stuff and might not update on that one for a while.

2020 Recap

Okay, it’s over but, of course, we would be deceiving ourselves if we think that would mean all the troubles of the previous year were gone by some magic barrier of time or something. So, I’m just going to recap all of the positivity that happened this past year. Because there was enough of the bad news already, right?

First off, Qiaoru announced their happy news at the beginning of the year. Many friends and fans sent them well-wishing. It was indeed a shocker to some, but all in all, it was a piece of hopeful news for the beginning of the year. (Click here for specific translations of the news.) Oh yeah, for all Qiaoru fans who stuck it through, we got bragging rights, eh? LOL! (Kidding!)

Then right on April Fool’s Day, Ehlo chose that eventful day to tell us that he got married like in 2018 already. Congrats to him for dodging the paparazzi for so long. Leave it up to him to announce it on his birthday, right? Ehlo’s wife is Cai Yi Zhi (蔡ㄧ支). According to her profiles, she’s from Hawaii, but I can’t confirm other information, lol. They’re sooo cute, by the way. I saw some of the interactions he posted and I laughed so hard. They’re a match made in heaven all right. Also, they’re one of those people who created an Instagram account for their dog. Not judging, lol. I enjoyed the posts, lol. They adopted the dog in 2019—according to the profile information and named her Bao Zhu (寶珠). The funniest thing was that Jacky had called Ehlo “Yu Rong Ge” in his congratulation clip to the blissful couple. I know we all know Jacky’s younger than Ehlo. But for Jacky to not try and gain an upper hand with Ehlo? Was it the effects of 2020? Or because I missed something?

By June, news broke that Ming Dao had become a father. He, of course, got married already. He also hid it well from the paparazzi. Team 183 Club 2, Paparazzi 0. To be honest, I didn’t know about the news either. But Leon posted a congratulations message on his page, so I went hunting for news, lol. I went to stalk the other 183 Club members too and they also congratulated Ming Dao, of course. Jacky even bragged about how his prediction came true that Ming Dao was the first one to have a kid. Anyway, Ming Dao got married in 2019. His wife is Wang Ting Xuan (王婷萱). She was a member of a band called KISS. I went and searched around a bit and saw that the group disbanded already. Oh yeah, to be fair, the paparazzi did catch them before and asked if they were dating and they replied that they were just friends, lol. I’m all for people who deceive the paparazzi. So, my previous declaration about the scores stands. Regardless, congrats to them once again!

Aside from those, Jun Ya launched his YouTube channel to share his various adventure trips called Sergeant Will Take You There, which was a reference to his role in Rookies’ Diary. (It was a while back but I just didn’t have time to go check it out yet.) They’re both informative and fun to watch. For example, there was a segment where he filmed with some of his close friends, which included Ehlo, Derek Chen, Kurt Chou, Kai Hsu, and Liang Zhe. (Click here, here, and here to check out the clips.) What was really funny about the first clip was them performing the intro to “Enticing Trick.” The final reveal was Ehlo because he had his back to the camera initially. It was a funny one because they messed up on the band’s name when they tried to introduce themselves. Derek scolded them for getting it wrong. It was hilarious and brought back a lot of fond memories of 183 Club in general. Also, it was really funny that when they introduced themselves, they were disclosing their heights. Kurt even disclosed his weight. Derek made a comment about how he should just disclose all his measurements as well, lol. (Probably hinting at how they would disclose their measurements during beauty contests, lol.) What got everyone hysterical was how Ehlo said he was an actual member of the 183 Club band, but he was only 178 cm. (Again, I love him! But that was hilarious!) Everyone picking on Kai because he was the youngest, lol. Not really, but Jun Ya was making a comment about him being young and being able to beat the challenge, lol. Hey, it wasn’t like Kai was going to take it from them, because he called them “elders” at various points of the segment. (Click here if you want to watch the whole challenge at one go from Kai’s channel. Since it’s his channel, he would be the main narrator of the clip. Also, he misplaced his GoPro during the third waterfall jump and had to go back and retrieve it later. If you watch Jun Ya’s version, you couldn’t tell the difference except there was a pause and they were yelling about it and weren’t able to find it. He went back later with another diver and they managed to locate it at last but, of course, since the GoPro sank already, he wasn’t able to record some of the later events after his own jump.) The weather was cold the time they were there hence their jackets. Jun Ya disclosed Ehlo’s marital status in the second clip, but I guess if anyone who watched wasn’t paying attention, they didn’t realize it or thought the guys were joking. This clip was loaded in December 2019, so it was before Ehlo announced it in April. (Someone has a bigger mouth than Jacky, lol.) Anyway, those were really fun episodes to watch and I won’t spoil it anymore. So enjoy!

Regarding YouTube channels, Derek Chen had launched his awhile back (Xiao Lie’s Cook Show) but I didn’t bother updating so this is a back update for several of them. It’s a cooking channel, mostly, and the first video was loaded six years ago, but I think he either forgot about it or the circumstances of last year hence him getting back into it more actively. (Go here if you want to check it out.) He and Jun Ya are actually closer than some of the others so there was another outing that they did together. (Go here for Derek’s version, here for Jun Ya’s version, and here for Xiao Fei’s version. The other guy talking during the challenge is Xiao Fei, he has his own channel also. They were doing another cross show. It was another fun watch.) Anyway, I remember a clip that Jun Ya shared like awhile back and how passionate Derek was about cooking and his pro tips. So both guys not only shared their adventurous side but also their cooking skills. Jun Ya referred to Derek as “Chef” on many occasions, so it was his own acknowledgment of Derek’s talent. (Of course, it was so obvious that Derek did most of the cooking during their waterfall challenges, and how on one occasion, the guys were all agreeing on how Derek had to survive or they would starve, lol.)

Jun Ya’s cousin, Henry, also launched his YouTube channel to teach English with his daughters called Learning With Henry. There was an episode where they did a crossover with Jun Ya and it was really funny. (Go here for Henry’s version and here for Jun Ya’s version.) What’s the difference between the versions? Henry’s focused on the English part while Jun Ya focused on the journey outside. Jun Ya’s nieces were so cute though, lol. Their sass was also top-notch, especially the questions, lol. Then I wondered if they got influenced by their father or Jun Ya’s attitude at times, lol. Anyway, not to troll but it was supposed to be teaching English after all, they spelled “sergeant” wrong. They were several other mistakes also, but I think overall, the humorous take of various local cultures was worth it. You learn more about Taiwan if you didn’t know before. Oh yeah, Henry apologized for his terrible singing at one point and then proceeded to end the episode with more terrible singing, lol.

I think the rest of the year sort of deteriorated to the point that I didn’t bother to keep up anymore although I did follow some projects that some people were working on. Yet once again, I want to keep this post on the positive side, so I will stop at that. I would also want to save the drama-related news for future updates.

Side-Note: I will not be doing tags update for this year since my lack of updates for last year sort of said a lot that they barely moved.

Tagged, You’re It! – Part III

The last time I actually did this was like five years ago. I either completely forgot or pushed it back for so long that I had forgotten. Either way, I forgot, lol. But after another round of dumping out a bunch of unnecessary, overly random posts, I had to do another recount and some adjustments. Anyway, funniest thing, when I went to the tags page, I could no longer see the “most popular tags” section. I did a little investigation around the site but still nothing so I’m going to scrap that.

So, moving on? Is Jun Ya still the reigning champion?

The answer? Yes, he is. It has been five years now and my lack of updates at times–due to various reasons, he’s still at the top with 167 posts. Considering it’s five years already, I say that’s slow progress anyway because it’s up only 21 posts. I meant, he was up more or less 18 posts just in one year–even if that was a slow year. So yeah, that was really slow. But possibly because I haven’t updated consistently anyway, so everyone suffered the same fate. I think it was also due to the fact that I deleted some pictures only posts as well so he suffered in that area. However, I think it was because I put in the placeholder posts for both Love Together and Love in Penghu that he didn’t suffer too greatly and was still able to maintain the top spot.

What about the others? Did they suffer too bad after the adjustments? Let’s look at the stats first before I dive into details, lol.

Achel Chang/ Zhang Xin Yu aka Xiao Xiao Yu – 151 posts (+15)

Joanne Tseng aka Qiao Qiao – 139 posts (+22)

Jacky Chu – 134 posts (+21)

Denny Tang Feng (Tang Jia Hao) – 99 posts (-14)

Wallace Huo – 97 posts (+10)

Pan Bo Xi – 83 posts (+20)

Ming Dao – 79 posts

Cyndi Wang – 71 posts (-4)

Mini Tsai/ Cai Huang Ru aka Dou Hua Mei – 69 posts

First off, my top 6 are still the same. Some adjustments were made and seriously, the deletion of some posts caused Tang Feng to lose posts instead of gaining. (Same fate with Cyndi actually.) Also, I stopped updating on some people completely–even before the lagging of updates in general so that was why.

I think out of the top 6, though, Qiao Qiao managed to gain without losing. Because I updated on her more consistently regarding her dramas and real-life stuff. I think I didn’t have to delete Jacky’s posts either but I couldn’t be too sure. He also benefited from song translations–on and off.

One other thing, some people might remember that I updated on Wallace passing the 100-mark already. However, because of post deletions, he got pulled down again. I think I have faith in him gaining more posts in the future. So yeah, no worries there.

And oh yeah, congrats to Ming Dao, Pan Bo Xi, and Dou Hua Mei for making top 10, they kicked Nic and Angela off the chart, lol. Sad for both but that was an interesting change of development. But it wasn’t too out of line. Regarding Pan Bo Xi and Dou Hua Mei, they were in The New World together and my obsession with them at one point helped them. I also updated on iHero whenever I could so yes, Dou Hua Mei reaped majorly over that. Not to mention how she has become one of my favorites in recent years so that helped as well.

What about Ming Dao? He gained because of 183 Club’s activeness with their several reunions and live performance. Not to mention I updated on The Missing twice. It wasn’t much but still, I think it was due to the fact that some posts got deleted so he was gaining because others were suffering, lol. Oh yeah, how could I forget that I had posted quite a few song translations for 183 Club as well? So that made sense with part of the gain.

Guess what? No ties with several parties like the previous two times that I updated on this. However, I noticed that Janine had already passed Nic by and could possibly make top ten in the upcoming year. The other person to watch out for is Calvin since he’s tied with Angela right now. I haven’t updated on Angela as actively as I would like to so that’s why she’s been suffering in post counts. The other person currently tying with Angela is Ehlo. (My golden couple in The Dating Game, lol.) He’s probably the third 183 Club member to make top ten in the near future. Possibly also like Janine, it would be within the next year. I think he would have made it if I didn’t hold back on some updates on song translations.

So, what now? I’ll try to remember to update next year so we could see the difference. However, I will try and update at the beginning of the year, lol. I know it’s almost the end of the year now, but we’ll see how much I manage to pull off, huh? The gap will probably be less embarrassing but who knows?

Year 2017 in Recap

year_review

When I thought that 2016 was a terrible year for me, I was wrong. 2017 continued to tank to a new level of crappiness. There were many frustrating things–one after another. It was like when I asked, “How much worse could 2017 be?”, it was like a challenge to the universe. So stuff happening in real life obviously affected how much time I have for this blog or attempted to keep some sort of activity. I did better than last year regarding updates, but that was a lot of effort because I’m still way behind on some news that I wanted to talk about. Yet no time or more like didn’t feel like it at the moment. I continued to get drained to another level that I thought might not be possible–like several days before. Then the pattern just repeated itself at different intervals. I think somewhere along the way, I ended up revamping my blog by getting rid of the too random posts. Like those general update ones. Although my blog already is random on many levels, I didn’t want to just post for the sake of placeholders too much. Anyway, here are some stats for this year.

Total Posts in 2017: 155 (11.7% of all time).

January: 18 (% of the year)
February: 10 (%)
March: 21 (%)
April: 20 (%)
May: 11 (%)
June: 18 (%)
July: 6 (%)
August: 4 (%)
September: 20 (%)
October: 14 (%)
November: 9 (%)
December: 4 (%)

Books Reviews:

Sad, because I actually read a bit this year but didn’t feel like doing reviews for some of them. Maybe I’ll go back to do them later.

Movies + TV Series Reviews/Episode Summaries:

Fan Fiction:

Complete failure–unlike what I promised last year about getting things done. I started looking over some of the fanfics again and managed to get going on some, but I can’t promise how fast it would be rolled out. I’ll get it out when I’m happy with what I wrote.

Songs Translations:

I used “You’re Always Beautiful” to start the year, thinking that if I continue to retain some sense of positiveness, somehow things will get better. But it didn’t. Anyway, how was this year regarding translations? I didn’t realize I was that productive. Mostly, I tried to push the majority of 183 Club’s songs out.

Chinese:

Vietnamese:

I didn’t want to do this update like I said last year. However, I felt like I needed to persuade myself to continue on. Not to mention, I want to keep some sort of a teeny, tiny bit of hope that 2018 will actually be better. So we’ll see, right?

183 Club Reunion: November 2017

(image credit: Ehlo Huang’s Facebook page)

This happened like in mid-November, but I was caught up with other stuff so I didn’t update. Anyway, it finally happened! All five of them managed to meet up again. Ehlo was excited when he shared the pictures on his wall, lol.
